You’ve probably noticed that this is my first new post in a while. Don’t worry, I haven’t given up blogging, I’ve just been really busy so I’m scaling back my blog.
I’ve written before about those times life can get in the way of blogging, and over the past few months I’ve been a prime example of this – I’ve had so much going on that I could either stress about having to find time to write a post every week, and put in several late nights to get it done, or I could simply not write. I cut out the stress and simply chose not to write for a while.
Here’s what I’ve been up to instead:
Well, I did actually manage to take a holiday – an entire week away from home with no work and no internet access, which was quite blissful! I’ve also had a lot of home improvements going on, as well as fitting in a trip to Glasgow to take part in a 5k fun run (ok, I admit it, I walked rather than ran!).
I’ve been spending a lot of time on my side project, creating a range of greetings cards. I started out intending to create a bunch of digital illustrations for the cards but have recently been learning to do linocut printing so my shop now has a mix of both styles.
I’ve absolutely loved learning a new skill and can honestly say that time simply flies when you’re carving lino! And since it’s kinda nice when people buy my cards I’ve been spending more time promoting my shop, including going to craft fairs. I had a great day at the Kemnay Summer Market this weekend, and am lining up more fairs to attend over the next few months. Keep an eye on my Facebook page for upcoming dates.
Most of all though, I’ve been working on my freelance projects. From character illustrations to animated e-cards, logos to websites, and quite a few exhibition banners, I’ve been super-busy lately. I’m happy to say that I’ve got plenty of ongoing work so that I’m gong to continue to be busy for a while!
So with all of that blogging has had to take a back seat. At the start of this year I set myself a goal to blog once a week. This isn’t practical any more so I’m now revising that goal to two posts per month. I hope you’ll stick with me on this revised plan and continue to read and enjoy these posts as much as I enjoy writing them for you.
Until next time,
