Merry Christmas

xmas

There’s snow on the ground, The Snowman is on TV and later there’ll be chestnuts roasting – it must be Christmas!

2009 has been a busy year which meant that I neglected my website for a long time, but I did finally install WordPress and get started with the blog. Since you’re here reading this article, I guess that has been a success.

Lately I have been concentrating on a few paintings and getting started with passive income. I have been creating graphics to sell on GraphicRiver.net and I’ll be writing more on that after the festive season.

Like most people I have been making New Year’s Resolutions and in 2010 I hope to:

  • design and build my first WordPress theme
  • learn more about Flash CS4 and ActionScript 3
  • get more involved with social media

Design and build my first WordPress theme

A few months ago I installed WordPress and have since been learinging how to use it. I am still very much a beginner so I chose the Zinepress theme for my site until I have the skills to create a theme of my own.

I belive it is important to design your own personal portfolio site as it can really show your personality, as well as being an ideal opportunity to experiment and learn new skills.

Up to this point I have worked mainly with AS2 but AS3 introduced many changes and it is a daunting task to learn them. This year I would like to learn AS3 and some of the new features in CS4, such as Inverse Kinematics.

Get more involved with social media

I joined Facebook quite late on, mainly as a means of regularly keeping in touch with friends and family, but after seeing several other designers on Facebook I decided to set up a fan page for my website. Within a couple of days I went from 1 fan to over 10 and that may be a small amount but it’s a start.

In 2010 I’d like to grow my Facebook presence and become more active in the online community. Who knows, I may even try Twitter!
