[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”3078″ align=”center” img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]So you’ve been blogging for a while but it’s not going as well as you thought it would. Something’s wrong. Maybe you need to improve your writing or do more marketing, or maybe your problem is bigger; you suspect you chose the wrong blog topic. Three warning signs that this is the case are:
1. You hate writing posts
Blogging shouldn’t be a chore but if you hate writing posts ask yourself why. If you don’t find the subject interesting or enjoyable it’s a clear sign that you chose the wrong one.
Before you give up:
Try thinking of ways to make the subject interesting. Can you put a different take on it or inject some humour into it to make it fun?
2. You’re running out of ideas
If you are running out of things to write about then it’s likely that you did pick the wrong blog topic. Maybe you don’t know enough about the subject to write lots, or maybe the focus is narrow so there’s just no scope to write that much.
Before you give up:
Try researching to find new ideas. Check pout other blogs, current news or events, answer questions that people are asking on Quora, and check out this post for more ideas.
3. Your mum is your only reader
You work really hard on your posts but no one comments and it feels like no one but your mum reads them. Is it because you’re not marketing enough or is the subject of your blog so niche that hardly anyone is interested in it?
Before you give up:
Try increasing your current marketing and look for new ways to promote it. Even if it is a very niche blog with a tiny audience, by trying different marketing methods you could reach more of your target audience.
It’s very discouraging when your blog isn’t doing as well as you hoped. If you recognise any of these 3 warning signs then maybe you did choose the wrong blog topic. But before you give up, try to decide whether you can fix the problem or if you are flogging a dead horse. If it’s the latter, maybe it’s time to move on, hopefully to a more successful topic. Good luck![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
